I hate dirty floors and always find it irritating if I have to walk on a dirty floor. Instead of relaxing at home, setting foot on dirty and dusty floors can only result in stress. This kind of flooring will also prevent you from inviting friends over to your home.
How can you be proud of your investment if your floors are dirty? Do you think your friends will actually love visiting you if your floors feel uncomfortable?
Your flooring stretches over your entire home, which is why you should exert time and effort in cleaning it. This task will also ensure that your home can actually leave a positive impression on your friends and family.
But, just like most homeowners out there, I was struggling to keep the floor clean on a day to day basis. Aside from having a lot of responsibilities on my plate, my house is on the ground floor and there are large size windows all around, making it more susceptible to dust and dirt buildup.
The infrastructure of my home is one of the reasons why daily cleaning is essential to keep the floors spotless.
There is nothing like walking on a dust-free and clean floor, but I was just struggling to get it right. And that’s when a friend of mine who is into housekeeping suggested to me some ideas to keep the floor clean on a day to day basis. This friend had made it easy for me to keep my clean floor every single day. Sure, there were a lot of adjustments at first since I have to tweak my daily schedule just to clean my floor, but I admit that everything is worth it. Today, I can always enter my home and then enjoy clean floors!

The fact of the matter is it has to be cleaned on a daily basis. There is no magic trick that can be applied to keep the floor clean, but you have to prevent dirt and clean the floor. Here’s what I do to keep the floor clean and I am happy with the result.
Lock dirt right at the door
As they say, “prevention is better than cure” and this golden rule applies to almost everything in life. So what if we prevent dust and dirt through windows and doors? Naturally, it will result in less dirt inside your house. Less dirt inside means you won’t have to work hard on cleaning the floor. This trick will enable you to tackle the moment from its cause, rather than managing its effects. If you don’t want to go through the same cycle of cleaning your floors every single day, then this hack is an excellent option for you.
Lock the dirt right at the door and prevent it from entering your home. Avoid opening your doors regularly, as this can only result in more dust inside your home. Keep your doors shut, especially during the windier months of the year.
Make sure to put a shoe rack right near the gate and when possible put off the shoes/sandals used outside before entering the house. Aside from opening your door less often, having a shoe rack outside of your home will also prevent mud and other dirt from the outside from entering your home.
Stick to daily cleaning
Deep cleaning of floor or the entire house can be left to the experts and professional house cleaning experts to get everything cleaned in the best professional manner. But that does not mean you can ignore the daily cleaning routine. Stick to daily cleaning especially dusting with a broom and moping with cotton mops or whichever mopping tool you like to use. The floor should be mopped twice every day.
De-clutter your space
Usually, dirt will get stocked if there is lots of clutter. De-clutter your space by organizing everything properly so that you get to clean the floor properly. No area should be left, from one corner to under the dining table and chair, every corner of the floor should be cleaned on a daily basis.
Treat floors differently
Depending on the type of flooring, you may have to use a different strategy and routine. Like if you are using rugs then vacuuming every week should work well, but in case there are spills, make sure to clean it immediately to avoid stain.
Over to you
Who would not want to keep the floor clean, but it requires lots of effort in keeping the floors clean and if you stick to the perfect daily cleaning schedule and mop your floor every day, there is no reason why your floor won’t remain neat and sparkling clean.
What else do you think one can do to keep the floor clean?
